If you’re looking for a compact SUV, the 2023 Mazda CX-50 is one of the most affordable options. It offers plenty of space and a great off-road driving experience. You’ll also find a plethora of comforts and convenience features.
Price
The Mazda CX-50 is the all-new compact crossover SUV from the Japanese automaker. It shares a platform with the Mazda 3 and CX-30. Compared to its predecessor, the CX-50 is larger and a lot more rugged. With the addition of the CX-50, Mazda is aiming to compete with the Toyota RAV4 and the Hyundai Tucson.
The Mazda CX-50 is available in several trim levels, and the price varies with the features you choose. The base 2.5 S model starts at $26,800. However, there are also turbocharged models, which will start at $42,775.
In addition to the turbocharged model, the 2.5 S comes with a 187-hp naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine. This model isn’t quite as powerful as the Honda CR-V or the Jeep Cherokee, but it will tow up to 3,500 pounds with the optional trailer brake controller.
Interior
The 2023 Mazda CX-50 is a compact crossover SUV with a plethora of features and technology. It has an impressive interior that will suit your needs, whether you need to transport four or five passengers. And, since it’s a new model, you can expect improved versions of the Mazda Connect interface and Apple CarPlay as well.
Mazda’s interior design language is on the upswing, with the 2023 CX-50. It combines a low-set dash with console-based controls and a touch screen display. Unlike previous models, the 2023 CX-50’s dashboard is bigger.
The base model features an 8.8-inch color infotainment display. Upgrading to a trim level entitles you to a 10.3-inch touchscreen display. Higher trims feature advanced keyless entry, heated front seats, and a power rear liftgate.
On top of that, the Mazda CX-50 has an excellent cargo area. The floor is flush with the liftgate opening, and there’s enough room to fit your bags. There’s also 41.7 inches of legroom in the rear.
Fuel economy
If you’re in the market for a compact crossover SUV, check out the Mazda CX-50. This is a stylish and powerful vehicle with excellent gas mileage. You can get a loaded model for over $43,000, and it’s not a bad price for a car this size.
As with most of Mazda’s models, the CX-50 offers a variety of trims to choose from. The 2.5 S, for instance, is a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that makes 187 horsepower. It also comes standard with i-Active all-wheel drive.
A turbocharged version of the 2.5-liter is offered, and it is rated to produce 227 or 227 horsepower. For those who prefer a more aggressive driving style, you can opt for the turbo-powered model, which produces a healthy 320 or 310 pounds-feet of torque.
Off-road driving mode
If you want a crossover SUV that can handle a bit of off-roading, you’ll be glad to know that Mazda CX-50 will be available with an Off-Road driving mode. It’s designed to enhance the experience of off-road driving, while boosting traction and stability.
This off-road driving mode will give you additional helpful aids for off-roading, such as increased torque to the rear wheels and improved idling. The drive mode also improves the response of the steering wheel.
You can choose from three drive modes: Sport, Towing, and Off-Road. Mazda’s Mi-Drive technology works to make the CX-50’s responsive in all of these situations, while maintaining the vehicle’s normal mode feel.
G-Vectoring Control (GVC) is another feature of the CX-50. In Sport mode, the weight shifts to the front tires to improve cornering turn-in. However, in Off-Road, the weight is placed on the rear tires to optimize traction and stability on loose gravel.
Rear-seat room
The 2023 Mazda CX-50 offers a wide variety of engines and styles to choose from. You can also opt for all-wheel drive. This model can tow up to 3,500 lb.
It has a spacious interior with plenty of room for up to five passengers. The front seats are supportive and comfortable. There is a large cargo area behind the second row. As the rear seat is folded, the cargo area expands to 56.3 cubic feet.
Interior features include console-based controls, an LCD screen and tan accent stitching. Several high-end trims feature leather upholstery. In addition, the base model includes an 8.8-inch color infotainment display.
The rear seat offers a 60/40 split-folding function. Front and rear seats are manually adjustable. Also, the CX-50 comes with a six-way power driver’s seat.
