Contrary to popular belief, the Urus is not the first SUV launched by Lamborghini but the older one was not that publicized or successful. The brand new Lamborghini Urus is really solid in the business market and does come up as a pretty interesting contestant in the market. Although we do not know everything about it at the moment, there are some things that are already known.
Huge Strength
As expected because of the Lamborghini brand, the Urus will be quite strong. It will have 641 bhp and can get to 62 miles per hour in around 3.5 seconds. The top speed is over 188 miles per hour, meaning that aerodynamic efficiency is quite high. Urus is even faster than the Cayenne. We do not have options available at the moment for equipment pack or engine but there is an announced V6 hybrid plug-in that will be released in China.
It Does Feel Like Lamborghini
While Urus borrows different things from Bentayga, the result is very much exactly what you would expect from Lamborghini. The extended wheelbase is the same but while Bentley wanted to get more space in the cabin, Lamborghini focused more on high speed enhanced directional stability.
Hexagon Based Interior
In the 2018 Lamborghini Urus we see a dashboard filled with hexagon shapes, including the expected air vents, usual leather treatment and carbonfibre. The roof is sloping coupe and you do get enough of leg- and headroom available. The only problem with the interior is that the front seat is not that great, although this might be changed in the future.
Huracan Speed
No matter how we look at things, the Lamborghini Urus is basically a big sports car, one that is just as fast as Huracan. The shifts of the automatic gearbox are great and when you go in sporting drive mode you will love the smoothness and leisure you get. We are looking at a really good chassis and a lot of technology that rivals that of the entire competition.
Off-Road Speed
When testing Urus on an off-road piste you automatically notice the fact that speed can be really high, unless you have to go through some serious descents or climbs. ESC will be active and you should use the 3 bottom gears. Lamborghini Urus is similar with Cayenne but we have to give a small edge to Urus.
Lamborghini Urus 2018 Is Not Perfect
Obviously, there are some bad things that should be mentioned, as with every single SUV on the market. We mentioned the seats that are unsupportive and we should add that there is a front-end pitch that can be a little irritating when you go fast around corners. Also, the V8 is not that special, especially when compared with the huge V10 that we see in Lamborghini.
We Finally Get The Urus
Many do not realize this but it took around ten years for Lamborghini to live up to the promise of offering an SUV. V10 and V12 were considered for Urus but as time passed the V8 was seen as being better. We are looking at an SUV that is really similar to the Cayenne Turbo S in terms of performance but we have to acknowledge that the potential is so much higher than what we got. This might change though at the official release date.
