The Peugeot 2008 2014 is a small SUV that is based on the 208 hatchback. It is a vehicle that joins a market that is quite crowded at the moment with competitors like Nissan Juke, Ford EcoSport and Holden Trax. How does the Peugeot 2008 fare against these?
Design
The design theme is conservative and uses a different styling theme when compared with the competition. It is something that is similar with what you would expect from the French manufacturer. Peugeot has a huge history on the automobile market so it should come as no surprise that we see a style that we are familiar with.
Features
We have 3 equipment levels:
- Peugeot 2008 Active
- Peugeot 2008 Allure
- Peugeot 2008 Outdoor
Every single one includes Bluetooth, audio streaming, USB, stylish roof rails, rear foglights, front foglights, air conditioning and alloy wheels. Allure will add heated front seat, dual-zone climate control, full length dark glass roof, automatic wipers and a leather trim. Outdoor includes Grip Control, Peugeot’s trademark traction control system, 17 inch allows, is higher and includes engine stop-start.
Engines
There are three engine choices available, a 1.2 litre petrol 3 cylinders, a 1.6 litre petrol 4 cylinders and a 1.6 litre turbo diesel. The 1.6 petrol comes with an automatic transmission. Peugeot 2008 SUV 2014 includes just 2 wheel drive. Outdoor offers extra traction while in slippery conditions. Drivers can select between 5 modes.
Interior
The interior space offered is quite good. We can say that the Peugeot 2008 2014 is best suited for couples that have pre-teen children. It is not that great for 4 adults. Boot space included goes up to 410 liters and you can expended to 1400 litres if you fold the back seats.
Driving
The driving experience is definitely not bad and you will love the fact that down changes are not needed often with the Outdoor in hilly driving since a turbocharger engine can add the necessary extra. Fuel consumption is usually 6 to 7 litres during country driving and around 8 when driving in the city.
Handling is almost always great with Peugeot so it should come as no surprise that the 2008 is great. The chassis balance is proper and when you drive you will get good feedback. The steering wheel is racecar like, which is a little controversial. However, it does bring in a greater driving experience. We can say that the big problem is the handbrake, which is quite weird to use.
Conclusions
On the whole, the Peugeot 2008 is quite interesting, comfortable, has a good carrying capacity and suitable engine options. The only problem is the lack of the automatic transmission on most models. However, the warranty is great and the price is quite affordable.
